
Chennai, 8 May (H.S.) : In an inspiring achievement, 70-year-old Rani from Coimbatore has passed the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Examination (HSE +2) in her first attempt, scoring an impressive 346 marks. The results, announced by the Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) on May 8, 2025, have spotlighted her remarkable journey, proving that age is no barrier to education.
Rani, who lost her husband years ago, found herself alone at home when a newfound passion for learning ignited. Studying from the confines of her home, she diligently prepared for the Class 12 exams, achieving her highest score of 89 in Tamil. Her story has captured widespread attention, with local media and social platforms celebrating her determination and success.
The Tamil Nadu Class 12 exams, conducted from March 3 to March 25, 2025, saw approximately 8.2 lakh students participate. The overall pass percentage reached 95.03%, a 0.47% increase from last year, with girls outperforming boys at 96.70% compared to 93.16%. Students needed a minimum of 35 marks per subject to pass, with specific requirements for theory and practical components.
Rani’s achievement stands out as a testament to lifelong learning. “I wanted to prove to myself that I could do it,” she reportedly said, as quoted by local news outlets. Her success has inspired many, with social media posts on X praising her resilience and calling her a role model for all ages.
