AAI Temporarily Suspends Civil Flight Operations at 32 Airports in Northern and Western Regions

New Delhi, May 10 (H.S): In light of the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has temporarily suspended civil flight operations at 32 airports in the northern and western regions. Additionally, the duration of the temporary closure of 25 segments of air traffic service (ATS) routes within the flight information regions (FIR) of New Delhi and Mumbai has been extended.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation stated in a release on Saturday that AAI has temporarily suspended civil flight operations at these 32 airports from May 9 to May 14, 2025, which corresponds to May 15, 2025, at 0529 IST. Furthermore, AAI has temporarily closed 25 segments of air traffic service routes within the Delhi and Mumbai flight information regions. These 25 route segments will not be accessible from ground level to unlimited altitude.

The 32 airports in the country that have been temporarily closed for all types of civil flight operations include Adampur, Ambala, Amritsar, Awantipur, Bathinda, Bhuj, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Halwara, Hindon, Jaisalmer, Jammu, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Kandla, Kangra, Keshod, Kishangarh, Kullu Manali, Leh, Ludhiana, Mundra, Naliya, Pathankot, Patiala, Porbandar, Rajkot, Saharanpur, Shimla, Srinagar, Thoise, and Utharlai.

The ministry stated that all civil flight activities at these airports will be halted during this period. Airlines and flight operators have been advised to plan alternative routing in accordance with existing air traffic advisories. Additionally, the temporary closure is being managed in coordination with the relevant ATC units to ensure safety and minimize disruptions.
