Manchester, 1 June (H.S.): Ruben Amorim has identified a preferred replacement for Bruno Fernandes, who is facing a potential exit from Manchester United after a disappointing season. There are reports indicating that Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal is interested in signing Fernandes, offering him a lucrative £65 million-a-year contract. Following discussions between Fernandes’ agent, Miguel Pinho, and Al Hilal officials, Manchester United is actively searching for suitable candidates to fill the void left by Fernandes. One potential replacement is Pedro Goncalves from Sporting Clube de Portugal, where Amorim previously managed him. Goncalves thrived under Amorim, achieving 81 goals and 57 assists in 190 matches, playing a similar left-sided No.10 role as Fernandes. Although Goncalves had a brief stint with Wolverhampton Wanderers, he has since emerged as a notable talent.
Amorim recently expressed his belief that Fernandes wishes to remain at United, stating, He is saying no to a lot of things, while also acknowledging that circumstances could change. In addition to Fernandes, other players like Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee, and Kobbie Mainoo have also been linked with departures from the club ahead of the summer transfer window.
