Bayern Munich wins record 34th Bundesliga title

Berlin, May 5 (H.S.): German football club Bayern Munich won their 34th Bundesliga title on Sunday without playing a match. This is their 12th consecutive title and a record overall 34th time they have claimed the German league title. This situation arose when their biggest rival, Bayer Leverkusen, drew 2-2 against Freiburg.

On Saturday, Bayern Munich drew 3-3 against RB Leipzig, which meant that Leverkusen needed a win to keep their title hopes alive. However, Freiburg put on a brilliant performance on Sunday and held them back.

Freiburg started the match aggressively. In the 44th minute, the team scored their first goal from a deflected shot by Maximilian Eggestein. In the fourth minute of the second half, Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapié scored an own goal, giving Freiburg a 2-0 lead.

Leverkusen tried to make a comeback in the final minutes of the match. In the 82nd minute, Florian Wirtz scored a spectacular goal, and then in stoppage time, Jonathan Tah equalized. However, they failed to score a third goal, and as a result, missed out on the win.

After this draw, Leverkusen remained in second place with 68 points, while Bayern Munich is at the top with 76 points. With two matches remaining, no team can surpass Bayern, and thus Bayern has won their record 34th title since the Bundesliga’s inception in 1963.
