Carlo Ancelotti becomes new coach of Brazil's football team

Italy's legendary football manager Carlo Ancelotti.

New Delhi, May 13 (H.S.): Italian football legend manager Carlo Ancelotti will now take charge of the Brazil men’s national football team. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced this on Monday. Ancelotti will leave Real Madrid at the end of this season and will take on the role of Brazil’s coach starting in June.

CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues said in a statement, Bringing Carlo Ancelotti to Brazil is not just a strategic move, but an announcement to the world that we are committed to returning to the top once again.

He added, He is one of the greatest coaches in history, and now he will lead the world’s greatest national team. Together, we will write another glorious chapter in Brazilian football.

Ancelotti has been Real Madrid’s most successful manager. Under his leadership, the club has won 15 titles so far, but he will finish the 2024-25 season without any trophies.

Ancelotti will be the first foreign coach for Brazil. He will replace Dorival Junior, who was dismissed after a 4-1 loss to Argentina in March. Ancelotti’s first challenge will be the World Cup qualifiers next month, with matches against Ecuador and Paraguay.

Brazil is currently in fourth place in the World Cup qualifying standings after 14 matches. The team’s star player Neymar has yet to return to form since his ACL injury in 2023. However, the top six teams from South America will directly qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Ancelotti’s appointment raises hopes for Brazil to re-establish its dominance in world football.
