Cattle smuggling case busted from a truck carrying potatoes

Bongaigaon (Assam), 18 (HS): A case of cattle smuggling from a truck carrying potatoes has come to light in Abhayapuri Singhimari area of Bongaigaon district. The recovery of cattle has become a topic of discussion.

Police said that on Sunday, a truck (AS-17C-5802) went out of control and crashed on National Highway 17 in Singhimari area of Abhayapuri. The truck was loaded with potatoes. 16 cattle were being smuggled under the guise of potatoes. Police have recovered 16 cattle from the truck.

Police sources have said that three cattle killed due to the accident. The cattle were being taken from West Bengal to Dudhnoi via Goalpara under the guise of potatoes in the truck. Which was planned to be sent to Bangladesh from the cattle market of Meghalaya. Police have registered an FIR in this regard and are investigating the matter.
