New Delhi, 4 May (H.S.): The government has removed K V Subramanian from his position as executive director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), six months before his three-year term was set to end. His termination is effective April 30, 2025, although official reasons for his exit have not been disclosed.
Reports suggest that he raised concerns regarding the IMF’s datasets, which were not well-received.
Additionally, issues related to an alleged impropriety concerning his book, India @ 100, were noted. Subramanian was appointed to the IMF position on November 1, 2022, following his tenure as chief economic adviser. India holds one of the 25 executive directorships, sharing the constituency with Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan.
