
New Delhi, May 17 (HS): Indian athlete Parul Chaudhary delivered an impressive performance at the Doha Diamond League 2025, securing sixth place in the women’s 3000 meters steeplechase event. During this event, she not only broke her own national record but also qualified for the upcoming World Athletics Championship.
In the competition held on Friday at the Suhaim Bin Hamad Stadium, Parul clocked a time of 9:13.39. This was an improvement over her previous national record of 9:15.31, set at the 2023 World Championship (Budapest).
Parul Chaudhary has secured her spot for this year’s World Athletics Championship by completing the race within the qualification time of 9:18.00.
In the competition, Kenya’s Faith Cheretich achieved first place with a time of 9:05.08. Meanwhile, Qatar’s Winfred Yavi took second place with a time of 9:05.26. Ethiopia’s Sembo Almayew completed the podium by securing third place with a time of 9:09.27.
Parul’s performance is a positive sign for Indian athletics ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024.
