Prayagraj, 18 May (HS): Comedy play Dulha Bhai, staged by Vinod
Rastogi Smriti Sansthan Prayagraj at Ravindralay auditorium under the direction
of Ajay Mukherjee, released all war tension and people enjoyed every bit of the
moment with thunders of laughter.
The original Marathi play by Padmakar Daware was skillfully
adepted by Gangadhar Paranjapey, and the artists justified their presence on
the stage by swift movements, humorous dialogue delivery, and quick actions and
reactions.
The story revolves around a middle class family of husband,
wife, and a marriageable daughter. Both the parents invite persons to visit
their place for the marriage purpose, and both the invitees arrive at the same
time with their sons. The situation turns tense for the family, but the
developments to counter the confusion create funny situations and tickles the
audience continuously and compells them to laugh loudly.
The actors were Abhilash Narain, Nivedita Dasgupta, Ashu, Tushar
Maurya, Madhurima Bose, Prakeek K Singh, Gajendra Yadav, Shubham Srivastava and
Anuj Kumar. Back stage support was provided by Sujoy Ghoshal (lights), Subham Verma
and Divyansh Raj Gupta (music), while the play was produced by Alok Rastogi.
BOOK RELEASE: A book containing two blank verse plays, penned by
famous writer, director, actor and AIR drama producer Vinod Rastogi titled
Suniye Dronacharya and Aparajita, was released on the occasion by the former
programme officer of North Central Zone Cultural Centrers Kalpana Sahay. Sahay
remembered Vinod Rastogi as a stalwart of All India Radio and made mention of
his most popular radio serial Munshi Itwari Lal. She also recalled her college
days when Bahu Ki Vida, a short play written by Vinod Rastogi was a part of
syallabus.
