Earthquake jolts Tibet; tremors felt in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

Lhasa, May 12 (H.S.): The strong tremors of an earthquake in Tibet early this morning startled people from their sleep. According to Indian time, a magnitude 5.7 earthquake was recorded in Tibet at 2:41 AM today. Its effects were felt in the bordering areas of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in India. As soon as the tremors were felt, people here rushed out of their homes in panic.

According to India’s National Centre for Seismology, the epicenter of the earthquake was located at a latitude of 29.02° North and a longitude of 87.48° East, with a depth of about 10 kilometers below the surface. This area falls within the Himalayan geological region, which is considered highly sensitive to seismic activity. Earthquake tremors are often experienced here.

It has been reported that people in the bordering districts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar were awakened by the sudden tremors and quickly evacuated their homes. Many individuals shared their experiences on social media, recounting how the earthquake tremors frightened them.

There have been no reports of any loss of life or property due to this earthquake. The National Centre for Seismology and local administration are continuously monitoring the situation. Precautions are being taken to handle any unpleasant incidents.
