New Delhi, May 17 (H.S.): The Delhi Capitals (DC) have received significant relief ahead of the second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The team’s vice-captain Faf du Plessis and middle-order batsman Tristan Stubbs have rejoined the squad. Delhi Capitals confirmed this in an official statement on Saturday.
The franchise also informed that Australian pacer Mitchell Starc and South African all-rounder Donovan Ferreira will not be available for the team at this time. Starc has been Delhi Capitals’ most successful bowler this season, taking 14 wickets at an average of 26.14 in 11 matches so far. The franchise has respected the decisions of both players and wished them well for the future.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has been granted permission by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to play with Delhi Capitals from May 18 to 24. Delhi Capitals have included Mustafizur in the team in place of Australian batsman Jake Fraser-McGurk, who will be unavailable for the remainder of the season.
As IPL 2025 resumes, Delhi Capitals will clash with Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 19 (Sunday) at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Currently, DC is in fifth place in the points table. The team started strong with five consecutive wins but is going through a tough phase after losing four out of their last five matches.
