Flight carrying Kanimozhi-led Indian delegation circled mid-air after drone attack on Moscow

Kanimozhi-led Indian delegation landed safely at Moscow

Moscow, May 23 (HS): The situation in Russia has become increasingly strained due to ongoing drone attacks from Ukraine over three days, significantly impacting Domodedovo Airport in Moscow. In light of security issues, air traffic was momentarily suspended, resulting in delays for several flights, including one carrying an Indian parliamentary delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi.

Although Russian state media like TASS did not specifically address this event, it was confirmed that airport operations were halted due to the drone assaults. The Russian Defense Ministry stated that over 100 drones were intercepted, causing injuries and damage to infrastructure in Moscow and nearby areas. Attacks were also disrupted in regions such as Kursk, Orel, and Belgorod. The Indian delegation, part of Operation Sindoor, had to circle before safely landing, where they reiterated India’s anti-terrorism stance during talks with Russian officials. The Moscow Mayor’s office reported 46 drones targeted the capital alone.
