
New Delhi, May 23 (H.S.): According to the draw held on Thursday at Roland Garros in Paris, World Number 2 Carlos Alcaraz will begin his title defense campaign at the French Open 2025 against Japan’s experienced player Kei Nishikori.
Meanwhile, World Number 1 Jannik Sinner will start the tournament against France’s Arthur Rinderknech.
The 23-year-old Sinner, who recently returned from a three-month doping ban following the Italian Open, could face French wildcard Richard Gasquet in the second round. The 38-year-old Gasquet is playing his last French Open and this will be his 22nd and final Roland Garros campaign.
Last year’s runner-up Alexander Zverev and three-time champion Novak Djokovic are also in the same half as Sinner. Zverev and Djokovic are likely to face each other in the quarterfinals, with the winner potentially meeting Sinner in the semifinals.
