Global market weakens; mixed trading in Asia

New Delhi, May 26 (H.S.): Today, global markets show signs of weakness, with American markets closing lower in the last session. However, Dow Jones futures are showing strength today, trading up 386.01 points or 0.93 percent at 41,989.08, bolstered by President Trump’s decision to delay 50 percent tariffs on Europe until July 9. The previous session saw Wall Street indices in decline, with the S&P 500 closing at 5,802.82 points, down 0.67 percent, and the Nasdaq dropping by 188.53 points or 1 percent to 18,731.21 points.

European markets also struggled, with the FTSE down 0.24 percent at 8,717.97 points, the CAC decreasing by 130.04 points or 1.68 percent at 7,734.40 points, and the DAX down by 369.59 points or 1.56 percent at 23,629.58 points. In Asia, mixed trading is observed today; out of 9 markets, 6 are in the red while 3 show gains. The GIFT Nifty is up 188 points or 0.76 percent at 25,071 points, and the Nikkei rose by 267.61 points or 0.72 percent to 37,428.08 points. Conversely, the Straits Times Index dropped by 0.42 percent, while the Hang Seng Index fell by 250.67 points or 1.06 percent.
