New Delhi, April 30 (HS): Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan discussed ongoing ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir via hotline.
India has cautioned Pakistan about unprovoked ceasefire violations, with effective responses from the Indian Army to continuous Pakistani artillery fire. After the attack, Pakistani troops escalated violations by firing without provocation in various sectors, including Tutmari Gali and Ramgarh on the night of April 26-27.
Again, from April 27-28, the Pakistani army launched attacks in Kupwara and Poonch districts, which were countered by Indian forces. Since April 22, nighttime firings from Pakistan have increased, prompting concerns of deliberate provocation.
On April 29-30, Pakistani posts fired across the LoC toward Naushera, Sundarbani, and Akhnoor sectors, and the Indian Army responded appropriately. Defense experts suggest that these actions aim to escalate border tensions and target Indian positions. After ongoing ceasefire violations post-Pahalgam attack, military discussions occurred to address unwarranted firings.
Notably, eight days after the incident, the Pakistani army vacated several posts on the International Border in the Pargwal area of Kathua, removing flags from those sites.
