Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal

New Delhi, July 5(HS):Union Minister Piyush Goyal stated India doesn’t bow to deadlines and maintains its position on Saturday. He criticized the Congress party for approving detrimental agreements during the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government’s time.

While addressing the media, Piyush Goyal stated, India does not negotiate under a deadline. We conduct discussions keeping national interest in mind. In all our engagements worldwide, national interest is paramount. This was in response to a statement made by Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi regarding the India-US trade talks.Goyal stated the current India differs from the UPA era, emphasizing negotiations aligned with national interest. He criticized Rahul Gandhi’s credibility, asserting that the public has lost trust in him and Congress due to their failure to present a positive agenda.

He stated that under Narendra Modi’s government, India has signed free trade agreements (FTAs) with Mauritius, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Australia, and the four-nation EFTA group (Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein), as well as recently with the UK.

Earlier, Piyush Goyal mentioned on Friday that the free trade agreement between India and the four-nation European bloc EFTA is likely to be implemented in the upcoming months.
