
New Delhi, May 10 (HS): Amid the agreement to stop firing and military action between India and Pakistan, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar made it clear that India will not compromise on its tough and unwavering stance against terrorism.
Jaishankar stated on X (formerly Twitter) that an agreement has been reached today to cease firing and military actions between India and Pakistan. India remains firm in its resolve not to tolerate any forms and expressions of terrorism. He will continue to work in this manner in the future.
In a Post ‘X’ he said,India and Pakistan have today worked out an understanding on stoppage of firing and military action.
India has consistently maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. It will continue to do so.
Earlier today, following a high-level meeting, government sources clarified that any terrorist activity carried out on Indian soil will now be regarded as a direct act of war against the country.
U.S. President Donald Trump was the first to announce an immediate ceasefire between India and Pakistan today. Following his announcement, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio provided information on the background and efforts related to this on X.
Rubio stated that he and Vice President J.D. Vance have spoken with the top leadership of both countries over the past 48 hours. This included discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir, and the National Security Advisors of India and Pakistan, Ajit Doval and Asim Malik, respectively.
Rubio commended the political sagacity and prudent decision-making of both prime ministers and expressed joy over the ceasefire, stating that both countries have decided to engage in discussions on key issues in a neutral location.
