New Delhi, May 10 (HS): On Saturday, an overnight air conflict erupted between India and Pakistan, leading to a press conference by the Indian Army scheduled for 10 AM at South Block. Pakistan attempted to target Indian military bases in Gujarat, Adampur, Ambala, Udhampur, Pathankot, and Jalandhar, but Indian air defenses successfully intercepted these attacks. In retaliation, India targeted several airbases in Pakistan, with reports of explosions near airbases in Islamabad, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Following the conflict, Pakistan shut down its airspace and suspended all flights.
Initially, a press conference was called at 5:45 AM to address recent Pakistani drone attacks across 26 locations, from Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir to Bhuj in Gujarat, but was postponed due to ongoing air combat between the two nations. During the conflict, Pakistan launched Fatah-1 and Fatah-2 missiles at India, including one aimed at Delhi, which was successfully intercepted in Sirsa, Haryana. Additionally, an attack on the Shambhu Mandir in Jammu was thwarted, with a missile falling near the temple but causing no damage.
The Indian Army activated surface-to-air missile systems in Srinagar and surrounding areas as civilian areas in Jammu suffered damage from Pakistani shelling. Reports indicated explosions and visible smoke in the Poonch area, along with civilian injuries from a Pakistani attack in Rajouri. India’s strikes targeted four airbases in Pakistan, endeavoring to minimize urban casualties. Subsequently, Pakistan also claimed that India targeted their bases, prompting the closure of their airspace.
