Nicosia (Cyprus), May 3 (H.S.): The Indian skeet shooting team has arrived in Cyprus to participate in the third ISSF Shotgun World Cup of the year. With this tournament starting today, India hopes to replicate the impressive performances seen in Peru and Argentina. This time, the team will feature two Olympians, along with several young and new faces.

The skeet competitions will begin on Monday, with Olympian Maraj Ahmed Khan leading the men’s category and Maheshwari Chauhan leading the women’s category for India. Alongside Maraj in the men’s team are Abhay Singh Sekhon and Rituraj Singh Bundela. In the women’s category, apart from Maheshwari, the team includes Parinaz Dhaliwal and 18-year-old Yashaswi Rathore. This will be Yashaswi’s first senior World Cup.

In this World Cup, over 350 shooters from 54 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) are participating. Alongside powerful teams like Italy and the United States, several former and current world and Olympic champions will also be competing.

The qualifying rounds will begin on Monday, featuring two rounds each day with 25 clay targets shot per round. The fifth round and final matches will take place on Wednesday.
