Dharamshala, May 8 (H.S.): The match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals being played in Dharamshala during the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) had to be suddenly halted after 10.1 overs. As soon as three floodlight towers turned off in the middle of the first innings, the players were called off the field. Immediately thereafter, the process of evacuating the stadium began, and the match was canceled.
Stadium evacuated for security reasons
There was no formal announcement made via the public address system in the stadium, but the police and ground operations team requested the spectators to leave the area gradually. The entire stadium was carefully cleared to maintain control of the situation.
Situation attributed to rising tensions at the India-Pakistan border
The backdrop of this decision is said to be the escalating tensions on the India-Pakistan border. According to reports, there was a drone attack from Pakistan in Jammu (about 200 kilometers from Dharamshala), reportedly in response to India’s ‘Operation Sindoor.’
Both teams headed to their hotels
By the time all this was happening, the Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals teams had already left the field. Both teams have been sent to their hotels, and the safety of the players is being prioritized.
