IPL 2025: Mumbai wins the match by 100 runs, Rajasthan out of playoff race

Jaipur, May 2(H.S.) : In the 50th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Mumbai Indians defeated Rajasthan Royals by 100 runs. With this victory, Mumbai also ended their 13-year win drought in Jaipur. Furthermore, with this win, Mumbai has claimed the top spot on the points table, recording six consecutive victories.

In the match played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Mumbai set a target of 218 runs for Rajasthan. While chasing the target, the Rajasthan team collapsed for just 119 runs. Jos Buttler was the top scorer for Rajasthan with 30 runs. Other notable contributions came from Riyan Parag with 16 runs, Shubham Dubey with 15, Yashasvi Jaiswal with 13, and Dhruv Jurel with 11 runs. No other batsman managed to reach double digits.

For Mumbai, Trent Boult and Karan Sharma took three wickets each, while Jasprit Bumrah claimed two wickets, and Deepak Chahar and Hardik Pandya picked up one wicket each.

Batting first after losing the toss, Mumbai Indians scored 217 runs for the loss of two wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Rohit Sharma and Nick Pooran played half-century innings. Mumbai had a slow start but gained momentum as the innings progressed. The pair of Pooran and Rohit shared a 116-run partnership for the first wicket. Pooran scored 61 runs while Rohit made 53 runs. Additionally, a partnership of 94 runs for the third wicket between Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya secured the team’s victory, with both scoring 48 runs each.

With today’s defeat, the Rajasthan Royals team, led by Riyan Parag, has been knocked out of the playoff race. Earlier, the Chennai Super Kings were also eliminated from contention for the playoffs.
