Kolkata, May 8 (H.S): Whether the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) will be Dhoni’s last season or not, even Mahi has not decided yet. The 43-year-old Dhoni said he plays for only two months each year and after every season, he has to work hard for 6-8 months to determine whether his body can withstand the pressure of the next season.

After an exciting win against Kolkata Knight Riders, Dhoni said, It’s not the time for me to make any decisions yet, but wherever I go, I feel love and warmth. Dhoni has been contributing less physically this season, and CSK coach Stephen Fleming has also acknowledged that Dhoni’s knee does not allow him to bat for long durations.

On Wednesday, chasing a target of 180 runs, Dhoni came to bat in the 13th over. Along with Shivam Dube, he took the match to the last over and hit a crucial six off Andre Russell’s delivery to secure victory for the team.

Two young stars were in the spotlight during this match – Urvil Patel and Dewald Brevis. Making his IPL debut, Urvil showcased an aggressive approach from the beginning and scored 31 runs in just 11 balls, which included four sixes. Meanwhile, Brevis scored a fifty in 22 balls, featuring shots like 6, 4, 4, 6, 6, and 4 off a single over from Vaibhav Arora.

Having been eliminated from the playoff race, the CSK team is now using the remaining matches to try out young players. Dhoni said, “There’s nothing more important than real matches over nets or practice games. We want to see how a player behaves under pressure, how mentally strong they are. Game awareness matters more than technique.”

Dhoni also mentioned, “What a bowler is thinking, which ball will be delivered according to which field setup, or what that ‘bluff ball’ will be – all these aspects make a genuine batsman special.”
