Kolkata, 7 May (H.S.): In response to India’s successful cross-border strike titled ‘Operation Sindoor’ targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), political leaders across the spectrum have come forward with reactions, hailing the military’s action.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express her support with a succinct yet impactful post: “Jai Hind! Jai India!” Her brief statement was widely interpreted as an endorsement of the Indian Armed Forces’ precision strike and the Centre’s decisive action.
The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed the operation through a press briefing on Wednesday, where Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri described the mission as a pre-planned and precise military operation that successfully destroyed multiple terrorist launchpads across the Line of Control in PoK.
The military action comes in the wake of a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, on Monday night, where militants linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed opened fire on a bus carrying tourists, resulting in the deaths of at least 26 civilians. In retaliation, the Indian Air Force reportedly led a coordinated assault under ‘Operation Sindoor’.
The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal also lauded the operation. A statement from the party’s official X handle read, This was a successful military action. Jai Hind!, echoing the sentiment of national unity and support for the armed forces.
Joining the chorus, senior Congress leader and West Bengal Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury also commended the Indian Army. In his social media message, he expressed pride in the armed forces, stating that the missile strikes on Lashkar and Jaish terror bases send a strong signal in India’s war against terrorism.
