Kolkata’s Iconic Monuments Illuminate in Tricolour to Honour 'Operation Sindoor'

Kolkata, 15 May (H.S.) –

In a symbolic tribute to the Indian Armed Forces, Kolkata’s iconic Victoria Memorial and Science City complex have been illuminated in the colours of the national flag following the success of ‘Operation Sindoor’. The gesture reflects a strong sense of unity and respect for the brave soldiers who carried out the mission.

An official from the Victoria Memorial stated that while no formal directive was issued specifically to mark the success of Operation Sindoor, instructions were received from the Union Ministry of Culture to highlight the theme — “Ek Desh, Ek Dhadkan” (One Nation, One Heartbeat).

“Since Tuesday, Victoria Memorial has been bathed in the tricolour, symbolising the unity, pride, and spirit of the nation,” the official said. He also mentioned that the special illumination will continue for several more days.

Located at the heart of the city, the Victoria Memorial is renowned for its magnificent white marble architecture. Similarly, the Science City complex, another major landmark of Kolkata, has also been lit up in the hues of the Indian flag. A spokesperson noted that this gesture was made to honour the nation’s pride and the unwavering commitment of its armed forces.

The success of ‘Operation Sindoor’ has sparked a wave of patriotic sentiment across the country, with tributes and gestures like these serving as powerful reminders of the bravery and dedication of India’s defence personnel.
