30 April (HS): Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Director General of
National Cadet Corps reached Lucknow on a two day visit to UP NCC Directorate
and its units at Lucknow on Saturday. The Directorate with Maj Gen Vikram
Kumar, as the ADG, is the largest NCC Dte in the country with 11 NCC Gps and
110 NCC Bns spread over all 76 distts of the state with the current enrolled
strength of nearly 1.64 Lakh cadets. Under the NCC expansion plan, approved by
Hon’ble Prime Minister, the Dte is undergoing expansion by a strength of 28,703
cadets over rhe next two years, taking its cadets strength to over Two Lakhs.

Gen Gurbirpal Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM commenced this tour with a visit to HQ UP
NCC Directorate wherein he was briefed by Maj Gen Vikram Kumar about the
activities and achievements of UP NCC Directorate in this Training Year 2024-25.
The DG NCC commended the UP NCC Directorate on the excellent work done and
acknowledged the excellent performance in conduct of the 2025 KM Sangram 1857
Cycle Rally, conducted to commemorate the 76th Republic Day by spreading
awareness about the 1st war of Independence of 1857. He also appreciated the
role played by the UP NCC Directorate and its units conduct of Special Sailing
Expedition from Kanpur to Buxar and its support extended to civ adm in conduct
of Mahakumbh at Prayagraj. During his
visit he inaugurated the renovated Capt Manoj Pandey, PVC Hall and paid
respects at memorial dedicated to Capt Manoj Pandey, PVC (Posthumous), an
illustrious alumnus of UP NCC Directorate.
During
afternoon the DG NCC felicitated the performance of meritorious NCC Officers
& Cadets by presenting two DG NCC Commendation cards, Six Medallions and
six Plaques to various deserving persons. He also addressed the Cadets and
Staff of Lucknow NCC Group and interacted with them over high tea. He will be visiting
Lucknow NCC Group and 67 UP Batallion NCC, Lucknow tomorrow.
