Guwahati, 30 April (HS): A massive fire broke out in the pipeline office of Oil India Limited located in Narengi area of Guwahati on Wednesday. Flames and black smoke engulfed the entire area, causing panic among the local people.

According to the information received, this fire broke out in the pipeline near a building under construction within the Oil India premises. However, the reason for the fire has not been ascertained yet.

As soon as the incident was reported, several fire engines reached the spot and immediately started extinguishing the fire. Due to the promptness of the firefighters, the fire was controlled and a major accident was averted.

Fortunately, there is no news of any casualties in this incident. At present, the fire has been completely extinguished, but the damage has not been assessed yet.
