Patna, May 17 (HS): The MP-MLA court in Siwan has issued a warrant for the appearance of former Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president Lalu Prasad Yadav, due to his absence at several hearings related to an old case of model code of conduct violation. This warrant mandates his timely appearance in court concerning a case from 2011, linked to a by-election in the Deroundha police station area, where RJD candidate Parmeshwar Rai contested.
During the election campaign, violations of sections 144-188 of the model code of conduct were charged, and the circle officer on duty recorded a complaint against Yadav under the Loudspeaker Act as per the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Act. After 14 years in court, an ACJM MP-MLA court issued the warrant, noting the details of Yadav’s village, Phulwariya, for posting. Advocate Madan Singh clarified that this is a bailable offense. It’s important to note that the RJD candidate Parmeshwar Rai has since passed away, leaving Lalu Yadav as the sole remaining figure in this case, prompting the court’s action.
