My book serves as inspiration for women, to overcome challenges and create positive change in society: UP Guv

book 'Chunautiyan Mujhe Pasand Hain' based on the life of Governor Anandiben Patel released

01 May (HS): The book ‘Chunautiyan Mujhe Pasand Hain’ based on the life of

Governor Anandiben Patel was released by the Vice President of the country

Jagdeep Dhankhar on Thursday at Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University. On

this occasion, Governor Anandiben Patel discussed extensively about her life’s

struggles and said that this book is an inspirational saga of self-confidence,

hard work and social change which is a living document of women power, social

change and self-reliance. The Governor expressed her gratitude to Vice

President Jagdeep Dhankhar and his wife Sudesh Dhankhar and said that your

dignified presence made this program memorable. The Vice President’s wife is

herself an Ayurvedic practitioner. This in itself is an example of women

empowerment.

Praising

the law and order and development works of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, she

said, “As a saint and Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath is giving a new direction

to Uttar Pradesh in difficult circumstances.”

Respect

for labourer brothers is important- Governor: He said that the day of the book

release was chosen especially keeping in mind the Labor Day. The Governor said

that the laborers engaged in construction works are less educated, but they

understand the exact design and construct grand structures like roads, bridges

and buildings. This day was chosen to honor their hard work. He also mentioned

the Charan Pujan of the laborers engaged in the construction of Kashi

Vishwanath Corridor by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the honor given to the

workers engaged in the construction of Maha Kumbh by Chief Minister Yogi

Adityanath, saying that the respect of laborer brothers is important.

The

governor shared her life struggles: Sharing the challenges and struggles of her

life, the Governor said that she was born in a farmer family in Mehsana

district of Gujarat, where water was a thousand feet below and salty. She said

that we had land, but there was a lack of resources. My father was a Gandhian.

He left the teaching service and started farming and also made the people of

the village aware. She discussed her struggle against the evils prevalent in

the society like child marriage, discrimination against widows and inequality

against women. She said that she had to call the police to stop the child

marriage of his own nephew. Similarly, she started social movements to get the

widows respected again in the society.

The

Governor said that the incident of saving two girls from drowning during the

Narmada movement became the turning point of her life and after this she started

her political career. Under the leadership of Narendra Modi, she organized the

Mahila Morcha and got the farmers ready for the dam and canal project on the

Narmada river and brought water to the fields.

Referring

to her visit to Jammu and Kashmir when terrorism was at its peak in the 1990s,

she said, “In the Ekta Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, I was the only

Gujarati woman who reached Lala Chowk to hoist the tricolour.” She mentioned

the work done as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and the Governor of Madhya

Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh.
