New Delhi, April 26 (H.S): Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries, Public Enterprises, and Steel, Bhupati Raju Srinivasa Verma, reiterated the government’s commitment to establishing advanced greenfield industrial smart cities nationwide during an event honoring the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (NICDC) with the Industry Development Award. Verma highlighted the transformative potential of the Integrated Manufacturing Cluster (IMC) in Palakkad, Kerala, which is poised to revolutionize the infrastructure and industrial landscape of the region. The event featured a detailed technical session on the National Industrial Corridor Development Program, showcasing the NICDC’s innovative digital solutions through initiatives like the Logistics Data Bank and Unified Logistics Interface Platform.

The Palakkad industrial smart city project spans 1,710 acres across various locations, strategically positioned to ensure seamless connectivity and significant logistical advantages, attracting high-quality investments and fostering regional employment. Key accomplishments include the acquisition of 81% of the necessary land, environmental approvals for all areas as of January 1, 2025, and ongoing efforts to finalize EPC tender documents.

Additionally, the session highlighted NLDSL’s role in reshaping India’s logistics ecosystem, integrating multiple systems across ministries and facilitating extensive API transactions, embodying Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a cohesive and transparent logistics network. The recognition of NICDC emphasizes its vital role in advancing India’s industrial transformation and competitiveness in the global manufacturing and logistics landscape.
