New Delhi, April 29 (H.S.): The National Women’s Commission has initiated suo motu action regarding a rape case involving female students at a college in Bhopal and has formed a three-member investigative committee.Scheduled to visit Bhopal from May 3 to 5, this committee will compile a comprehensive report for the Commission.
Vijaya Rahatkar, the Commission’s National President, announced that serious measures have been taken, and the committee will be led by retired IPS officer Nirmal Kaur, with members including lawyer Nirmala Nayak and Deputy Secretary Ashutosh Pandey.
The inquiry will involve discussions with relevant authorities, victimized students, their families, and others connected to the incident to gather information on the situation.
The committee aims to provide recommendations to prevent future occurrences and ensure justice for the victims, alongside legal action against the perpetrators. The case stems from reports of students luring female peers into false relationships which led to assaults, blackmail, and recorded incidents, resulting in several arrests and registered cases.
