Naxal sympathiser freelancer arrested in Nagpur for posting messages against Indian military

Nagpur, 10 May (HS): A

freelance journalist was arrested on Friday for posting derogatory remarks about the Indian

Armed Forces, particularly after the Operation Sindoor was launched. Rezam

Madepatti Shiba Siddiqi (26) claims to be a journalist, is a native of Kerala,

and was arrested from a hotel in Nagpur.

Siddiqi is a

Naxal sympathiser and has been posting messages against the Indian Armed Forces

after the ‘Operation Sindoor.

Siddiqi

participated in a conference in Delhi a few days ago, where a demand was raised to free journalists posting anti-social messages. He later met some Naxal

sympathisers in Delhi. He is also known to be associated with the Democratic

Students Association. After attending the conference in Delhi, he came to

Nagpur to meet one of his girlfriends.

On getting information

about Siddiqi, Nagpur’s Lakadganj Police arrested him from a hotel. He was

writing for Maqtub Media, The Observer Post outlet. He also wrote that the Indian

military is killing innocent people, including children, in Pakistan. Police

were searching for him, for his posts on social media.
