
Kathmandu, May 7 (H.S.): Amidst the rising tension between the two countries following the Indian Army’s Operation Sindoor, the Nepalese government has issued a high alert, tightening security arrangements at all sensitive locations in the country. A meeting of the Central Security Committee held on Wednesday decided to enhance security surveillance at all border checkpoints associated with India, including international airports located in Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Bhairahawa.
The meeting of the Central Security Committee, chaired by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, Defense Minister, Home Minister, and heads of all three security agencies. In this meeting held at the Prime Minister’s office in Singha Durbar, it was decided to increase security surveillance at airports and border checkpoints in light of the tension between India and Pakistan.
Home Ministry spokesperson Ramchandra Tiwari informed that the decision was made to enhance monitoring and keep the security system on high alert in sensitive areas including the Nepal-India border and all international airports in order to prevent unwanted activities in the country.
He mentioned that the meeting discussed the developments arising from the tension between India and Pakistan, its impact on Nepal, potential challenges, and the safety of Nepali citizens in India and Pakistan. Spokesperson Tiwari said that various issues were discussed in the Central Security Committee meeting, including preparations for internal security, coordination, and information exchange.
Current issues were also discussed in the meeting, which included strengthening security arrangements with special surveillance from border checkpoints to airports, ensuring border security and internal security, and addressing potential challenges.
