Nothing is going to happen until Putin and I get together : Trump

During his visit to the Middle East, U.S. President Donald Trump.

Abu Dhabi, May 16 (HS): U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent Middle East visit during his second term marks a potential shift from his previous foreign policy principles, particularly as he navigates isolationist sentiments. His four-day trip to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates reflects a deliberate redefinition of traditional alliances and an increased involvement in global conflicts. Notably, Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Syria and meet with its leader after 25 years demonstrates a willingness to engage rather than isolate, a move that has sparked concerns among conservative allies. His behind-the-scenes meeting with interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa stands out as a pivotal moment of the visit.

Trump also claimed credit for de-escalating tensions between India and Pakistan and warned that Iran could face increased hostility if diplomatic efforts fail. He asserted that Russian President Vladimir Putin would only engage in peace talks with his direct involvement. Addressing troops at Al Udeid Air Base, Trump reaffirmed his priority to end conflicts and use American power judiciously. This trip notably contrasts with his first term, where he imposed a travel ban on seven Muslim-majority countries; during this visit, he expressed openness to Qatar and visited a prominent mosque. Overall, each step of his journey underscored his dual role as both a dealmaker and peacemaker, suggesting a significant evolution in his foreign policy approach.
