Pakistan temporarily closes parts of Karachi and Lahore airspace for security resasons

Islamabad, May 1 (H.S.): Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, and the ensuing tension between the two countries, Pakistan has temporarily closed certain special sections of Karachi and Lahore airports for flights for one month. The federal government has stated that this decision was made for security reasons.

According to Reports,’ Pakistan’s aviation authorities have announced the temporary closure of specific parts of the airspace within the Karachi and Lahore Flight Information Regions (FIR) for a period of one month. The Pakistan Airport Authority (PAA) has issued a new NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) to close designated parts of the airspace in both cities. As per the NOTAM, certain parts of the airspace in the cities will remain closed daily from 4 AM to 8 AM from May 1 to May 31. Aviation sources have confirmed that this decision has been made due to security reasons. However, commercial flight operations will continue via alternative routes.

Earlier, Pakistan International Airlines had canceled six round-trip flights between Islamabad, Gilgit, and Skardu. The canceled flights include PK-601, PK-603, and PK-605 from Islamabad to Gilgit, as well as PK-451 from Islamabad to Skardu. Additionally, the flights PK-602 and PK-604 from Gilgit to Islamabad were also canceled.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Radio has reported that the Pakistan Army is currently conducting military exercises. This includes a demonstration of modern weapons in light of war strategies. Military officials and soldiers are showcasing their professional capabilities during the exercises. Security sources have indicated that the primary objective is to provide a strong and decisive response to any aggression from neighbors.
