Pakistan's Naila Kiani summits India’s highest Kanchenjunga peak

Islamabad, May 23 (HS): Pakistani mountaineer Naila Kiani has made history by climbing the world’s third highest peak, Kanchanjunga. She has become the first woman from Pakistan to summit 12 of the 14 peaks in the world that are over 8,000 meters (26,247 feet) high. Kanchanjunga, located on the border of Nepal and the Indian state of Sikkim, is one of the most challenging climbs in the Himalayas.

According to Sources, Kiani’s expedition is significant in the history of mountaineering in Pakistan. She is nearing membership in a global group of 17 women who have conquered all 14 peaks. The Alpine Club of Pakistan stated, This is a memorable moment in the history of mountaineering in Pakistan and a great moment of national pride.

A banker living in Dubai, amateur boxer, aerospace engineer, and mother of two, Kiani has broken barriers in the male-dominated world of high-altitude mountaineering. She studied at the University of London and is currently working as an Associate Vice President at HSBC Bank.
