Piyush Goyal highlights India's digital infrastructure advancements in UK

Piyush Goyal highlighted India's progress in digital infrastructure and innovation during his visit to the UK.

New Delhi, June 20 (H.S): Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal’s two-day visit to the UK involved meetings with top officials and industry leaders to explore collaboration in emerging technologies, particularly in fintech and AI. He highlighted India’s advancements in the digital realm, discussing digital empowerment and SME-led growth. Goyal engaged with Sir Ian Blatchford at the Future Frontiers Forum and met Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves to strengthen the India-UK economic partnership, focusing on financial infrastructure and sustainable finance. He also conversed with Oliver Prill from Tide, emphasizing India’s commitment to refining the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) texts into a transformative partnership.

At the India Global Forum (IGF) 2025 in London, he presented India’s strategic global vision and economic leadership, framing the FTA as a symbol of shared aspirations between the two democracies. Goyal asserted that the agreement would not only boost bilateral trade but also demonstrate India’s adeptness in negotiating a balanced trade framework. His visit aimed to address FTA implementation and enhance trade and investment between India and the UK, with an agreement expected to take effect soon.
