
Doha, May 15 (H.S.): During U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to the Gulf countries, Qatar Airways has signed a deal worth $200 billion with American aircraft manufacturer Boeing for the purchase of 160 jet planes. This historic agreement was signed on Wednesday in Doha in the presence of President Donald Trump and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
During the ceremony, President Trump stated, This is a deal worth over $200 billion, and it includes 160 aircraft. It is truly fantastic. He congratulated Boeing’s CEO Kelly Ortberg, calling it a record deal.
In the ceremony, U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also signed several important agreements regarding defense cooperation with Qatar. These included letters related to the offer and approval of MQ-9B drones and the FS-LIDS defense system. Additionally, Trump signed a joint defense cooperation declaration between Qatar and the U.S.
Following the agreement, the Emir of Qatar remarked that there had been better discussions between the two countries and that their relationship has reached a new level. Trump also praised the Emir, stating, We have been long-time friends, and this person is truly outstanding.
U.S. President Trump is currently on a four-day Gulf tour. Before arriving in Qatar, he visited Saudi Arabia, which was also the destination of his first foreign trip during his presidency from 2016 to 2020. His final stop will be the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
