
Imphal, 22 May (HS): The security forces in Manipur are continuing their drive against illegal weapons and rebels. Police have seized a huge quantity of sophisticated illegal weapons by conducting a drive at various places in West Imphal and Kakching district. Along with this, seven outfits have been arrested.
According to the state police headquarters, police arrested two PLA militants by conducting a drive in Kanchipur of West Imphal district. The arrested have been identified as Huwam Chittaranjan Singh alias Thauba and L Joy Chandra Meitei alias Aabung. 3 magazines with 5 rounds of bullets, a 9 mm carbine machine gun, 24 active bullets of AK rifle, a huge quantity of bullets of various lethal weapons including a point 303 LMG magazine, 5 mobile phones, a four wheeler and cash have been recovered from the two arrested rebels related to extortion.
Similarly, in another operation, 2 KCP outfits have been arrested from Kairang Singar in West Imphal district, 2 KYKL rebel from Tezpur in Kakching district and one rebel of banned outfit group PRIPAK from Kairengai market. The arrested outfits have been identified as Thonjam Diya Singh, Singabam Singh, Nangthambam Ravindra Singh. A 7.62 Mei sniper rifle, a 9 mm pistol with 2 magazines, a bike along with a large quantity of bullets have been recovered from their possession. The other two militants have been identified as Khumukcham Amuthai Meitei and Mayanglambam Premchand Meitei. Several mobile phones have been recovered from them.
