
Cachar (Assam), 11 May (HS): Fierce fighting took place at the counting centre of the Silchar assembly seat on Sunday. A violent clash broke out between the supporters of two independent candidates at the centre located at ISTT. Chandrasen Das, a supporter of one of the candidates and a constable were seriously injured in this fight.
After the incident, the police took immediate action and detained four people. The fight took place between the supporters of two independent candidates of Chenkuri area under Tapang Zilla Parishad of Barakhla assembly constituency.
It is being told that this violence broke out after a candidate got a lead of only 12 votes. The police is currently engaged in controlling the situation and security has been increased in the area.
