Guwahati, 4 May (HS): Based on information received from reliable sources, the Bashistha police took action against a gang involved in serious betting and gambling activities and arrested six persons gambling inside a white Baleno car (AS-01EY0944) from Lakhara area near Sarusajai Stadium Gate.

The police have seized mobile phones, cash, voter ID, driving license, ATM card, Aadhaar card and many objectionable items from the spot and the Baleno vehicle used in betting.

The arrested accused include Munwar Hasan (27 years), Sukur Ali Ahmed (40 years), Parth Pratim Das alias Moon (31 years), Lutfar Rahman (40 years), Mokbur Hussain (36 years) and Abdullah Ali Farooq (22 years).

Initial interrogation has revealed that the accused were using illegal online betting applications. They were also using their own and others’ bank accounts (mule accounts) for betting money transactions. Police suspect that these accused have used the bank accounts of common people by deceiving them.
