New Delhi, May 10 (HS): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that the monsoon will arrive in Kerala on May 27 this year, earlier than last year’s arrival on May 30. This marks the beginning of the southwest monsoon season, which generally provides relief from the intense heat as it moves northward.
Typically, the monsoon reaches Kerala around June 1, with a variation of about seven days. The forecast was made using an advanced indigenous statistical model that analyzes various climatic factors, including temperatures and rainfall patterns across different regions. Over the past two decades, the IMD’s predictions regarding Kerala’s monsoon start date have been largely accurate.
