Stock market closes in green, Sensex and Nifty up

Delhi, 25 June (H.S.): The domestic stock market closed stronger for the second consecutive day, with significant gains seen across major indices. The session began positively, characterized by sustained buying pressure, leading to continuous increases in both the Sensex and Nifty. The Sensex ended the day up by 0.85 percent, while the Nifty rose by 0.80 percent. Key sectors driving this upward trend included automobile, IT, FMCG, and pharmaceuticals, with additional gains in banking, consumer durables, metals, and tech indices. Conversely, shares in public sector enterprises, defense, oil and gas, and capital goods faced selling pressure.

Investor wealth surged by over ₹3.88 lakh crore, with the market capitalization of BSE-listed companies rising to ₹453.96 lakh crore from ₹450.08 lakh crore on the prior trading day. Active trading involved 4,162 shares on the BSE, with 2,818 closing higher and 1,207 lower. On the NSE, 2,611 shares were traded, with 1,957 ending in the green. Among the Sensex’s 30 shares, 27 closed higher, while 3 declined; in the Nifty, 41 shares gained, and 9 fell.

The BSE Sensex opened at 82,448.80 points, gaining 393.69 points, and surged by 760.80 points to 82,815.91 points after 1 PM. However, minor profit booking led to a slight decrease before closing at 82,755.51 points, a rise of 700.40 points. The NSE Nifty opened at 25,150.35 points, with an initial rise of 106 points and climbing to 25,266.80 points before settling at 25,244.75 points, a 200.40-point increase.

Top gainers included Titan Company (+3.58%), Infosys (+2.11%), and Mahindra & Mahindra (+2.08%), while notable losers were Bharat Electronics (-2.97%) and Kotak Mahindra (-1.14%).
