
New Delhi, May 20 (HS): The domestic stock market is experiencing early trading pressure today. It initially opened with slight gains but quickly succumbed to selling pressure, causing both the Sensex and Nifty indices to fall into negative territory. By 10 AM, the Sensex was down 0.23 percent, while the Nifty was down 0.21 percent.
Notable gainers included Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Coal India, Hindalco, and Infosys, with gains ranging from 2.05 percent to 1.03 percent. Conversely, declines were seen in Shriram Finance, Hero MotoCorp, Eicher Motors, Jio Financial, and HDFC Bank, with losses from 0.81 percent to 1.02 percent. A total of 2,356 stocks were actively traded, with 973 stocks in the green and 1,383 in the red. In the Sensex, out of 30 stocks, 12 were positive, while 18 were negative. Similarly, 21 out of 50 Nifty stocks were gaining, and 29 were losing.
The BSE’s Sensex opened with a gain of 56.75 points at 82,116.17 before briefly rising nearly 200 points. However, it later fell by 10 AM to 81,872.41 points, down 187.01 points. The Nifty also opened positively but dropped to 24,891.85 points, down 53.60 points by 10 AM. On the previous trading day, the Sensex and Nifty both closed lower, reflecting ongoing market volatility.
