Kabul, May 8 (HS): The Taliban and the National Resistance Front (NRF) have reached an agreement to refrain from attacking each other. The NRF, led by Ahmad Massoud, is a military coalition opposing Taliban rule.
The ceasefire agreement was made during a meeting in Parwan province, where representatives from both sides, including a 12-member NRF delegation led by former Mujahideen commander Almas Zahid and a 6-member Taliban team headed by Mohammad Mohsin Hashimi, convened to discuss options for ending hostilities.
NRF leader Mohammad Alam Ezejdiar confirmed the decision not to launch attacks until the upcoming second round of talks. The three-hour meeting, while significant, did not yield concrete results. Discussion topics included the governance structure and issues surrounding Panjshir.
Taliban member Anamullah Samangani noted that governance structure was a focal point, while Noorullah Noori indicated that outcomes would be revealed soon. Despite the ceasefire, resistance member Hamid Saifi emphasized their military readiness, underscoring that military action remains an option should talks fail to produce results.
