Turkiye-Azerbaijan Boycott: UP dealt Rs 1600 crore hit, 8k travel packages cancelled

Lucknow, 17 May (HS): By boycotting trade with

Turkey-Azerbaijan, both the countries will suffer a loss of about Rs 1600 crore

from UP. Deals of products coming from here have been cancelled.

Turkey-Azerbaijan will have to pay a heavy price for Pakistan’s support. By

boycotting trade with these countries, both the countries will suffer a loss of

about Rs 1600 crore from UP. Deals of products coming from here have been

cancelled. Apart from this, at least 8,000 tour packages of May, June and

August have also been cancelled. Due to the absence of tourists from UP, a loss

of about Rs 450 crore will be incurred. Azerbaijan has a major share in this.

Turkey’s apple, dry fruits, carpets, silk, linen and special spices have a

market of about Rs 1000 crore in UP. At the same time, UP is the market for

Azerbaijan’s tea-coffee and ceramics. In the last three days, orders worth more

than Rs 150 crore have been stopped. Vishwanath Agarwal, a wholesale spice

trader from Kanpur, said that the food products coming from these countries are

in high demand among the upper class. But now the orders placed are being

cancelled.

No impact on our country: According to the Federation of Indian

Export Organizations (FIEO), neither Azerbaijan nor Turkey is among the top 10

countries with trade relations. India will not be affected if there is no trade

with these countries. Former Chairman of Leather Export Council Mukhtarul Amin

said that finished leather coming from Turkey has been boycotted.
