Two ISIS’s Sleeping Cell members arrested at Mumbai Airport

Mumbai, 17 May (HS): The National Investigation Agency

(NIA) arrested two individuals associated with the Islamic State of Iraq and

Syria (ISIS) were arrested on Saturday at the Mumbai Airport. In the police

record both ISIS agents were registered as ‘Absconding’. They were identified

as Abdul Faiyaz Sheikh and Talha Liyakat Khan, who are prominent members of

the sleeping cell module of ISIS.

According to NIA sources, both the accused were

engaged in a case related to the manufacturing and testing of an Improvised Explosive

Device (IED) in Pune since 2023. Both were declared absconding criminals and

had a prize of Rs 3 lakh each on their heads. They were hiding in Indonesia’s

Jakarta, form where information about their return to Mumbai was received. The

Immigration Bureau detected them on Terminal 2 at Mumbai Airport, and NIA team

immediately arrested them. Both had fled following the exposure of ISIS activities

in Pune. Another accused, Nachan, the son of terrorist Saqib Nachan, was also

arrested for his involvement in terrorist activities.
