Abu Dhabi, May 3 (HS): A court in the United Arab Emirates has sentenced two men and one woman to prison terms ranging from 10 to 15 years for falsely implicating an Indian businessman in a drugs case. One of the convicted individuals was a partner of the victim, the Indian entrepreneur. This information has been reported by Gulf News, citing the decision of the Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court.
The Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court sentenced an Emirati man named SR and his wife to 10 years in prison along with a fine of 50,000 dirhams each. The wife’s brother, AA, received a 15-year prison sentence and a fine of 100,000 dirhams. The court considered the convicted woman’s brother to be the main perpetrator of the crime.
According to the prosecution, the three were motivated by greed to seize control of the Indian entrepreneur’s flourishing business. Under the influence of his wife, SR plotted to eliminate his Indian business partner. They conspired to frame the partner for drug possession, enlisting the help of AA. They then placed drugs in the Indian partner’s vehicle and informed the police. The police conducted a search of the vehicle and arrested the Indian businessman.
According to the prosecution, this case did not hold up in court. The Indian individual revealed the ongoing tension regarding the business with SR. When the police changed the direction of their investigation, everything came to light. During rigorous questioning, all three confessed to their crime.
