US arrests suspect for attempted embassy firebombing in Israel

Joseph Neumayer

New York, May 26 (HS): A 28-year-old dual US and German citizen, Joseph Neumayer, was arrested on Sunday for allegedly attempting to incinerate the US embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel. The justice department reported that he was detained at John F. Kennedy Airport after being deported by Israeli authorities, where he was found with explosive devices. Neumayer faced a court appearance and is currently in jail. Attorney General Pamela Bondi stated the charges included planning an attack on the embassy, posing a threat to Americans and even President Trump.

His arrest follows a recent shooting that resulted in the deaths of two Israeli embassy staff members in Washington, DC. Federal officials disclosed that Neumayer arrived in Israel in April and headed to the embassy with a backpack containing three Molotov cocktails. When approached by an embassy guard, he allegedly spit at him and fled, leaving the explosive devices behind. Law enforcement later apprehended him at his hotel.

Additionally, it was noted that Neumayer made social media posts threatening to burn down the embassy and called for death to America. He also threatened Trump’s assassination on another social media account. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison. Meanwhile, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem will memorialize the recent shooting victims in Israel.
