Lucknow, 26 April (HS): The UP government aims to triple exports by 2030 due to the ongoing
US-China trade conflict. Using improved infrastructure, a skilled workforce,
and supportive policies, the state hopes to attract global investment and
strengthen its position as a leading export hub, particularly in MSMEs and
leather goods. An official statement released on Saturday outlined plans to
turn this global economic tension into an advantage for the state. According to the statement, although the
US-China stalemate provides greater opportunities for India, Uttar Pradesh is
strategically positioning itself as a preferred investment destination due to
its improved law and order situation, world-class infrastructure, and ample
trained workforce.
The One District One
Product (ODOP) initiative has increased exports from Rs 88,967 crore to more
above Rs 2 lakh crore, as Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has frequently said in
public forums. To attract enterprises,
the UP government is counting on expressways, airports, and canals, as well as
low-cost labor and a thriving MSME sector, to instill trust in its
infrastructure. Uttar Pradesh’s
dedication is reflected in its growing status as a competitor for businesses
wishing to relocate away from China. The
state also intends to introduce a new export policy, as well as initiatives
such as the International Trade Show, to strengthen ‘Brand UP’ globally.
