New Delhi, May 7 (H.S.): U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated that they are closely monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan. He reiterated President Donald Trump’s comment that expressed hope for a peaceful resolution to this conflict soon. Secretary of State Rubio mentioned that the U.S. will continue to engage with the leadership of both countries to work towards peace.
Earlier, the Indian Embassy in Washington, D.C., had issued an official statement saying that India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval had spoken with Secretary of State Rubio to inform him about India’s actions. The statement noted that 26 civilians lost their lives in an attack by Pakistan-backed terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22. India has solid evidence of Pakistan’s involvement in this attack.
India had expressed hope that Pakistan would take action against the terrorists; however, two weeks later, Pakistan has not taken any concrete steps, besides denying involvement and making false flag accusations. It further stated that in response, India conducted limited and precise actions targeting only the terrorist camps. No damage was caused to any Pakistani civilians, military installations, or economic infrastructure during these actions.
